New Housing Supply figures - Comment by James Thomson CEO
20 November 2018
James Thomson, Chief Executive of Keepmoat Homes, commented on the recent Housing Supply figures published by the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) saying:
“It’s very positive news that the official figures show the significant progress being made by the housebuilding industry as it looks to address the country’s housing crisis. The fact that in the year to April 2018 the annual 'Net Supply of Housing Statistics' - the official measure against which Governments' housing target is set – shows an increase of 78% in supply over the last five years and an increase of over 6% in new build completions year on year, is testament to the work being done across the industry.
“Keepmoat Homes is committed to working in partnership with local authorities, housing providers and Homes England to deliver mixed tenure new homes with an average selling price of £149,000. We’re proud to be the UK’s leading home builder for first time buyers and of the part we are playing in increasing the supply of much needed new homes.
“The report also highlights the importance of our industry to the wider UK economy, and I’m pleased to see that levels of employment within the industry are continuing to rise. As an organisation, Keepmoat Homes is always focused on the development of talent and we work closely with community groups, organisations at grass roots and with education providers to promote the industry and highlight the career opportunities which are available to everyone.”
