123 new homes move closer for Brue Farm

24 October 2019

One of the UK’s leading housebuilders, Keepmoat Homes, is preparing to deliver 123 new homes in Highbridge after completing contracts on the land with Homes England and receiving reserved matters planning permission from Sedgemoor District Council.

The new development will include new homes for a mix of tenures including 115 for open market sale and 8 affordable homes, public open spaces, footpaths and play areas.

All of the new modular homes on the Brue Farm development will be delivered using offsite manufacturing techniques through Keepmoat Homes’ delivery partner ilke Homes. This modern method of construction enables for an increased pace of housing delivery, with the modular homes being manufactured in a controlled factory environment and delivered to site. Groundworks have already begun on the site.

Lisa Broom, Development Manager at Homes England, said: “Since taking possession of this stalled site in March 2018, Homes England has prepared the land for development; including demolition works and construction of the first phase of surface water drainage infrastructure. We’re now pleased to hand the site over to Keepmoat Homes who will use modern methods of construction to increase the pace of delivery of much-needed new homes in Highbridge.”

Gerraint Oakley, Regional Managing Director at Keepmoat Homes in the South West, said: “We’re delighted to be moving forward with this new 123 home development in Highbridge following completing contracts with Homes England. Having worked with our partner ilke Homes to successfully bring high quality modular homes to other sites in our region, we’re excited that Brue Farm will be our first development to fully employ modern methods of construction.”

Dave Sheridan, Executive Chairman of ilke Homes, said: “Momentum around modular housing is continuing to grow in the UK, with this 123 home mixed-tenure development in Highbridge showcasing our ability to deliver high-quality and sustainable precision-engineered homes at scale. Working alongside Keepmoat Homes and Homes England once more demonstrates the confidence that our partners have in the quality of our homes and the pace of our delivery throughout the UK.”
