Local area
Famous for legendary heroic outlaw Robin Hood, Nottingham is now a thriving city with castle walls, culture, creativity and retail therapy around every corner. And when your home is in Sherwin Gardens, you can be at the centre of everything in 15 minutes. Head in the opposite direction and you can explore colourful Derby, and the green spaces, galleries and museums of Leicester. Or, stay closer to home and escape to the hills around Hemlock Stone.
Walk the school runs
School runs are refreshingly simple at Sherwin Gardens. With Albany Junior School, Wadsworth Fields Primary and St John’s C of E, all within a short drive, you can leave home late and still arrive at the gates on time. Nearby Foxwood Academy and Bramcote College are even closer.
Get everything, local
Living next door to Stapleford means it’s easy to nip in for odds and ends. Stock up on shopping at Aldi, or the Co-op. Hit the gym at Bramcote Leisure Centre or the play area at Bramcote Hills Park. Grab fish and chips. Pick up your amazon parcels at the Post Office. Or, simply watch the world go by over a pint, at the CAMRA award- winning Horse & Jockey.
Explore the city
Being 15 minutes from one of the UK’s most vibrant cities has endless advantages. Like exploring medieval ruins and cutting-edge art in the same afternoon. Why not catch a musical at the Theatre Royal and Royal Concert Hall, or an intimate gig in The Bodega? Sit down to a Michelin star meal or sip cocktails in a quirky cave bar? Or, search the boutiques of Cobden Chambers and Hockley Street for a one-of-a-kind gift? If that isn’t enough to fill your weekends, you’ll find Derby, Leicester and Birmingham all within an hour’s drive, too.
Dip into nature
From the landscaped grounds, to the trees on every street, Sherwin Gardens has been designed to bring nature to your door. However, nature lovers should also head to Nottingham Canal Local Nature Reserve for herons, kestrels and damselflies. At the award-winning Bramcote Hill Park, you can walk in woodlands, explore walled gardens and even catch a glimpse of woodpeckers and bats. Alternatively, take a picnic to slopes of the Hemlock Stone and enjoy panoramic views of your new home.
Unearth history and heritage
The past is all around you at Sherwin Gardens. From the Silk Mills of Stapleford and Derby, to the 11th century castle walls of nearby Nottingham Castle and England’s oldest Inn – The Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem, there are fascinating histories to unearth wherever you go.
Make a day of it
When it comes to planning family days out, you only need to look around the neighbouring area. Head to the Wollaton Hall, Gardens and Deer Park for the UK’s largest natural history museum and herds of wild deer. Follow in the footsteps of the famous outlaw at the Robin Hood Experience. Fly through the Derwent Valley at The Heights of Abraham. Or, climb the leader board on your favourite videogames at the Derby Computer Museum.
Get everywhere, fast
Whether you’re walking into Stapleford or commuting, Sherwin Gardens is close to everywhere. Situated just off the A6002, it’s only four miles from the Sandiacre junction of the M1. From there, you can head north to Leeds and Sheffield, or south to Birmingham. Alternatively, hop on one of the regular buses from Stapleford, or make the short journey to Beeston Station. Once here, you’ll find regular trains to Nottingham, Sheffield, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.
