Everything you could ask for
Thanks to its excellent location, just over a mile from the centre of Bridlington, you can look forward to living in a quiet rural setting with all the amenities of the popular seaside town has to offer on your doorstep. While a short stroll away is the welcoming Lobster Pot pub which is a popular spot to meet up for a meal, drinks and a catch-up with friends.
With Bridlington just 2 miles down the road, you can be enjoying all it has to offer with ease. For the essentials there is a choice of supermarkets. Then, there is the excellent range of shops which includes all the big high street favourites as well as more intimate boutiques in the old part of town offering everything from original art and jewellery to antiques and gifts.
After you’ve shopped ‘till you drop, try one of the many cafes, bars or restaurants on offer. Or perhaps you’d prefer fish and chip shops sat overlooking the historic harbour? And if you’re after something to do in the evening, there is a three-screen cinema and bowling at the Forum Complex, the Spotlight Theatre and Bridlington Spa which boasts a dance hall and theatre.
Those with children will be pleased to know that Salkeld Meadows places a number of schools and colleges within easy reach. These include nearby Hilderthorpe Primary School and Bridlington Secondary School, both of which are rated Good by Ofsted, as well as East Riding College, Bishop Burton College and Hull University.
If you’re into your sport, you’re in for a treat. For starters, there’s a golf course across the road and if you’re into water sports you’ll be spoilt for choice with every option you can think of available along the coast. Then, there is East Riding Leisure Bridlington with its gym, classes and swimming pool which includes water slides.
For days out, you don’t have to go far to have fun. Everyone’s favourite is a trip to the beach and award-winning promenade. With a funfair and amusements on offer plus leisurely walks, you can look forward to a traditional day out at the seaside. Or if you’d prefer something a bit more relaxing, then there is Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast to explore which has one of the most impressive areas of chalk cliffs in England. You can also visit nearby Sewerby Hall & Gardens or hop onto one of the land trains that run along the promenade. For a more historic day out, the city of York is just an hour or so drive down the road.
Travel made easy
Life at Salkeld Meadows has everything you could wish for. But when you do have to leave home either for work or pleasure, it’s a breeze thanks to the excellent transport links on offer.
The A165 (Kingsgate) is at the end of the street from which you can get onto the A614 that becomes the A166, then A64, or you can head south and meet up with the M62. This means that York is just over an hour’s drive away, you can be in Hull within 45 minutes and Leeds is one and a half hours from your door.
Train travel is equally as convenient. Nearby Bridlington Station has regular trains services running to Scarborough in 40 minutes, Hull in 45 minutes, Sheffield in just over 2 hours and York in as little as 1 hour and 20 minutes.
If you want to go abroad, then simply grab your passport and head for Humberside airport just over an hour’s drive away. From here you can go anywhere from Majorca to Lapland and Bulgaria to Italy. Plus for more travel options try Leeds Bradford and Doncaster Sheffield aiports both under 2 hours away.
