Sharing the joy of Christmas this December
As the Keepmoat team prepares for Christmas, we’re taking a moment to reflect and spread joy to those in need this December.
The festive season is about giving, whether that’s a gift to a friend or a warm meal to someone in need - there are many ways to give back this Christmas. That’s why, in this blog post, we explore small gestures that can make a big difference and discuss how our work brings local communities together at this special time of year.
Food banks and gift donations
Local food banks and gift donation schemes are a great way to give back this festive season. This could be through buying a few extra items in your weekly food shop to support those struggling, or donating a toy for a child to enjoy on Christmas Day. Small gestures such as these are a great way to spread joy with those who are less fortunate.
At Keepmoat, we’re proud to be collecting food banks and gift donations across our nine regional offices as part of our Mission Christmas initiative - all food and gifts will be donated in time for Christmas Day.

Homemade cards and DIY projects
Another way to spread joy this Christmas is to donate DIY projects, such as knitted goods or handmade cards, to care homes and hospitals. These gifts can brighten the day of those who are unable to enjoy a change of scenery this festive season.
Why not consider creating snowflake-inspired, glittery cards or knitting a gonk or Santa hat? Both make perfect additions to the festive spirit!
Gifting donations in honour of friends and family
Instead of giving traditional gifts, why not consider making a donation to a charity or organisation in someone’s name? This could be a local charity or one that is close to your heart. Donations can offer a good alternative for Secret Santa exchanges among friends or family members.
Keepmoat made multiple donations to local causes to give back to communities. Our Yorkshire West division donated £20,000 to support local families affected by childhood cancer and to assist professionals in the construction industry who are facing mental health challenges.
Meanwhile, our West Midlands region contributed more than £32,000 to Variety Children’s Charity, helping to provide life-changing aids to children and young adults. These funds were raised through team golf days, various office fundraisers and a charity ball.

Volunteering over the festive period
One way to spread joy to those in need this Christmas is by volunteering at a local shelter or community group. You can help by distributing meals or simply by being there to listen to someone who wants to talk. These small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

Christmas is all about spreading love and joy. We hope you have an amazing festive season, whatever your plans may be. We’d love to see how you celebrate – share your own ideas using #Keepmoat.
