Keepmoat to deliver 66 affordable homes in partnership with Bromford
We are delivering 66 affordable homes off Cheney Manor Industrial Estate in partnership with local housing association Bromford.
The approved affordable housing scheme, which was granted full planning permission by Swindon Borough Council, will deliver a range of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes comprising a mix of houses and apartments.
The acquisition of the land, located adjacent to the newly constructed Moredon Sporting Hub, has enabled Swindon Borough Council to fund the creation of the multi-functional state-of-the-art sporting facilities, which are now open to the community.
Ben Leather, Regional Managing Director at Keepmoat, South West, said: “We are excited to announce Bromford as our partner to create an affordable scheme in Swindon.
“At Keepmoat, we’re committed to working with a range of partners to deliver fantastic schemes and high-quality new homes. We’re looking forward to progressing the approved plans and delivering 66 affordable homes to benefi t the local community through our ongoing partnership with Bromford.”
Bromford will be making 33 of the new homes available for social rent, the most affordable form of housing, with the remaining 33 homes available for affordable home ownership through Bromford’s shared ownership scheme.
Adam Frontczak, Head of Land at Bromford, said: “There are more than 2,5001 families on the housing waiting list in Swindon, so we’re delighted to be working with Keepmoat once again to provide more affordable homes in the town. We’re excited to see work get underway and can’t wait to see them completed and customers move into them.
“As the country’s leading developer of homes for social rent, we understand the importance of providing people with a quality home they can afford to live in. But it’s more than just building homes, we invest in places too, working with local authorities and communities to ensure our customers can truly thrive.”
Councillor Kevin Small, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Finance, said: “I’m pleased Keepmoat has found a new partner in Bromford for its development at Moredon, which will provide 66 much-needed affordable homes in Swindon.
“The Council’s sale of the land to Keepmoat was necessary to help pay for the wider Moredon Sporting Hub scheme and we were able to deliver these fantastic facilities for the local community without the loss of green space as we have reclaimed development land at the other end of Moredon Rec.
“I look forward to seeing the new houses coming forward to benefi t those who need them.”
