Housebuilder transforms disused land into ‘thriving’ new Kent community
We are celebrating the completion of our Belgrave Place development, which has transformed 12 acres on the Isle of Sheppey into 153 high-quality new homes.
Delivering part of the Thames Gateway regeneration plan, the land was released by the Crown Estate Commissioners on behalf of Her Majesty the Queen in 2021 to be regenerated for new homes.
Keepmoat has delivered the 153 homes in partnership with Swale Borough Council and local housing association, Heylo, to create 18 affordable options. The newly established community also features green spaces, cycle links and a streamlined transport network.
Charlotte Goode, Divisional Chair at Keepmoat, said: “The Keepmoat team is delighted to welcome residents into the remaining homes at Belgrave Place. It’s been a privilege to transform the former Crown Estate and witness a thriving new community being created.
“We are dedicated to creating homes where people want to live and after being impressed by other work delivered nearby with Homes England, we were honoured to be selected as the preferred developer to regenerate the unused land in Minster-on-Sea.”
Wayne Bennett, Partnerships Director at Heylo, added: “It’s always rewarding to see people settling into their new homes, and we’re proud to have partnered with Keepmoat to deliver high-quality, affordable properties for Shared Ownership at Belgrave Place, through our Home Reach scheme.
“This development addresses a genuine local need, providing much-needed housing in a unique location on the Isle of Sheppey. Crucially, these homes have enabled families and individuals to remain rooted in their local community.”
