Celebrating Brew Monday

As January rolls in, the excitement of the new year often meets the reality of winter blues - making ‘Brew Monday’ the perfect occasion to lift our spirits.
Celebrated on the third Monday of January (Monday 20th January), Brew Monday invites people across the UK to take a break, sip on our favourite warm beverages, and connect with friends, family, and colleagues.
At Keepmoat, we love this initiative as it encourages us to replace a potentially gloomy winter outlook with warmth and positivity through the simple act of sharing a cup of tea or coffee.
In this blog post, we’ll explore the significance of Brew Monday, share ideas on how to celebrate it and highlight the importance of mental wellbeing during the colder months. So, grab your favourite winter warmer and let’s dive into the heartwarming traditions that make this day special!
Host an in person or virtual coffee break
Invite friends, family, or colleagues for a cosy catch-up session. Whether it’s in your living room or over video chat, sharing a drink and chatting together can significantly lift spirits.
Last year to celebrate Brew Monday, our head office team hosted a coffee morning in the ‘Keepmoat Cafe’ creating an opportunity for colleagues to come together and share uplifting and positive stories and a time to chat over a warm cuppa.
Find a new winter recipe
Another way to celebrate is to experiment with winter warmers! Explore new food and drinks this Brew Monday by considering recipes for homemade hot chocolate, chai lattes, flavourful soups, or traditional dishes. Sharing your creations via social media can inspire others to join in and spark a conversation between friends!
Mindful moments
Take time for yourself by enjoying a quiet moment with your favourite brew. Use this time to reflect, practice mindfulness, or journal about your thoughts and feelings.
Last year, the Keepmoat regional teams also held in person mindful group meetings to celebrate Brew Monday, providing a wonderful opportunity for colleagues to connect, share, and appreciate the little things in life together. Following the success of these groups, there are an array of exciting events planned to celebrate Brew Monday this year.
If you're looking for additional ways to unwind, consider delving into a new book or tuning into an uplifting podcast. Taking time away from screens can be incredibly beneficial, allowing for those valuable moments of reflection that we often overlook.
Stay in touch
Not just for Brew Monday, but across the year, it's very important to stay connected with friends, family, neighbours, and colleagues. A simple note to let someone know you’re thinking of them can significantly boost their mood during the winter months.
Encouraging friends and family to take a walk together and enjoy some fresh air is not only a great way to lift spirits but also has health benefits.
As this Brew Monday approaches, let’s come together to highlight the importance of connection, warmth, and wellbeing. Remember, it’s not just about the beverage you’re sipping—it's about the bonds you’re nurturing and the care you’re extending to yourself and others.
We would love to see how you’re celebrating Brew Monday. Share your own ideas using the hashtag #KeepmoatHomes.
