Place design excellence
Great developments are about more than just high-quality homes. They are places that reflect community priorities, taking an inclusive and long-term approach to site character, urban design, and social value.
We bring our Building Communities Transforming Lives Vision into our developments through these measures:
Understanding priorities
Through desktop research, walkrounds and where appropriate, consultations to establish local character and community need
Concept & site vision
We hold a site concept meeting before bidding, bringing together colleagues from a variety of different roles with different perspectives
Expert-led training
Thorough training materials for teams, created and delivered by the author of Building for a Healthy Life design standards
Architectural sequence
Robust urban design process – focusing on sustainability and attention to detail

Partnerships
Riverbank View is an example of community regeneration and working closely with partners to support local communities.
It was delivered collaboratively with Salford City Council and community partners providing training programmes, jobs and an improved environment. It won a Social Value UK award in 2018 for work with young people.
Keepmoat is the build partner of the major New Tyne West Development Company regeneration scheme at Scotswood. A significant engagement programme called “Make Your Mark” was used to ensure the community could make an impact on the regeneration. The fund saw over £1.5m used to bring communities closer to their place.
We delivered this regenerations as part of Hull Citywide Developer Partnership (HCDP), a consortium of developers, including Keepmoat, Strata, Home Group and Priority Space.
It’s a true example of how the local community, the council and private sector can come together to regenerate an area, stimulate private investment and deliver transformational change.
Social value projects
NEET SUMMER PROJECT
Our summer programme for young people not in education, employment or training has been run for six years in Salford with public and third sector partners. The six-week course provides an introduction to the construction industry, raises confidence and enthusiasm with construction activities and opportunities to apply for apprenticeships.
PRISON PLANTERS
We work with Hull Prison to supply inmates with waste pallets who in turn create them into planters for placement in the local community.
The offenders learn skills and feel they are giving back to the City. They earn credits via a system known as ‘Investors in Community’.
BRICKLAYING HUB
Our Bricklaying Hub at Scotswood, in partnership with NHBC, helps to considerably reduce the length of a bricklaying apprenticeship. That means apprentices get hands-on more quickly leading to greater placement satisfaction both for them and their bricklaying supervisors on site.
