Keepmoat and J&J Bricklayers recently supported Wigan and Leigh College with their festival of engineering and construction open evening held during National Apprenticeship week.
Keepmoat’s Social Value Manager, Julie Baker, and Kerry O’Connell from J&J Bricklayers attended the open evening to judge the college students with their brick laying competition.
Over the course of the evening Kerry and Julie took time to speak to each of the students whilst assessing their work and Kerry shared his knowledge, expertise, and tips of the trade with the students.
It was such a difficult decision to pick winners as all the students had produced amazing work.
During the evening the college also hosted an information careers event that was attended by lots of young people, some with their parents/carers, who wanted to find out more about apprenticeship opportunities and career paths within the engineering and construction industries.
It was great to see women making their way to the bricklaying department to find out more about this role from the tutors at the college and Julie also offered some insights into Keepmoat, the variety of career and the progression routes.
There was a fantastic buzz around the college, and it was a privilege to support the event.
