Demolition of the vacant council owned residential blocks began in June 2020 with Armac Demolition appointed as the contractor. The Dryden Close flats were demolished first, followed by the flats at Huxley Place and Housely Close.
Now that the demolition works are complete, Keepmoat Homes will take the sites forward for redevelopment. This first phase of demolition did not include the shops and former community centre, which are planned to be demolished once the new retail premises are constructed.
It is expected that planning applications for the redevelopment will be submitted March 2021 with work commencing later in the year. Development will take place over the next five years.
