Keepmoat recently visited Wigan and Leigh College to speak to their electrical and civil engineering students about Keepmoat, their Worsley Mesnes development in Wigan and the upcoming opportunities the development will bring.
Keepmoat’s Social Value Manger, Julie Baker, delivered an introduction to Keepmoat, gave an overview of their Worsley Mesnes development and the work experience and apprenticeship opportunities the development will bring to over 60 construction students from Wigan and Leigh college.
The session also covered employers’ expectations, giving the students valuable information on what employers are looking for when recruiting new members of staff.
Andrea Chambers, Careers coach, at Wigan and Leigh college shared feedback received from the students which included
- Good to hear about the realities of the job
- Hints and tips on CVs were really useful (especially the idea of gaining a provisional driving license and putting this on the CV)
- Good website ideas including Considerate Constructors site
- Liked the information around what makes a standout candidate (including what NOT to do).
