High View is perfectly placed to make the most of your all-important leisure time too. Blaydon Leisure Centre is less than a mile away (a 20 minute walk if you’re feeling active) and has a gym, pool and lots of classes for all abilities. There are also lots of parks nearby, including Shibdon Park, with great facilities for children and Shibdon Pond Local Nature Reserve.
Just over a mile from High View is Swalwell Visitor Centre. The gateway to the famous Derwent Walk, it follows the old Derwent Valley Railway for 11 miles from Shalwell to Consett and is a great way to explore this amazing countryside. The area is criss-crossed with paths and cycle lanes to make enjoying the stunning natural areas around the Derwent River easily accessible. Such as the popular Sustrans C2C cycle route that runs alongside the river and also connects with key destinations across the city.
The ideal location for growing families, there’s a great choice of schools nearby. Blaydon West Primary and St Joseph’s Catholic Primary schools are both just a short walk away. For children aged 11 to 18, St Thomas More Catholic School is nearby.
