Around Somerville

Glasgow is just under 7 miles away and when to comes to getting there you have lots of options. Junction 2A of the M74 is close by, taking you directly into the city centre. There’s a handy Park and Ride close by and even closer to home is Cambuslang Station. ScotRail run regular services from here, taking you into Glasgow Central in just 10 minutes.

This part of South Lanarkshire is perfect for those who enjoy a healthy lifestyle. The area has lots of well-marked cycle paths and lanes. You can pick these up near to your door where you can follow the clearly signposted routes to Glasgow, the local school and more. South Lanarkshire Lifestyle Eastfield, the first integrated community, leisure, lifestyle and social care centre in Scotland is on your doorstep. There’s a pool, gym, health suites, fitness studio and more here.

If you enjoy getting out in the fresh air, there are plenty of parks in the area. Nearby Quarryfield Park is a great place to stretch the legs, there’s a children’s play area here too. There’s also Cathkin Braes Country Park. Famous for its panoramic views of the region, this 500-acre park is the highest point in Glasgow. On a clear day, many of the regions mountain ranges can be seen from this vantage point.

A great location for families, there’s a good choice of schools nearby. The much-acclaimed James Aiton Primary School is a short walk away and can be accessed via the nearby cycle route. For older children, Trinity High School is less than a mile away.
