Local Area
The Hawthorns is in the perfect location for work, rest and play. Just half a mile from Hebburn town centre, a wide selection of shops, cafes and bars are all a short stroll away. As are a selection of supermarkets with Asda and Aldi on offer.
Families with children will be pleased to know that even closer is a choice of primary and secondary schools. In fact, Keelman’s Way School, Hebburn Comprehensive School and Hebburn Lakes School are reached in minutes by foot and all rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, while St. James Catholic Primary School, also down the road, is rated ‘Outstanding’.
Just as convenient is Campbell Park which is a 5-minute walk away with its large open spaces and health walks. Or, if you’d rather relax next to the River Tyne, then head for Riverside Park on the other side of the town centre with its walks, nature trail, cycle routes, marina and football pitches.
Keep fit and sports fans will be just as impressed with the options available. For starters there is Hebburn Central which is a well-equipped multi-activity leisure centre that includes a swimming pool, gym, sauna and steam room. Then there’s Hebburn Sports Club with a range of different football teams to join or support. Or if you prefer something a little more sedate, it has a bowls club.
For days out, you don’t have to go far for a fun-filled time. Segedunum Roman Fort & Museum is just across the river. Or jump in the car and you can be at Sandhaven Beach within 20 minutes or the seaside resorts of Seaburn or Roker with their Blue Flag award winning beaches within half an hour.
Will you be travelling into Newcastle or Gateshead for work? And perhaps thinking about heading further afield for days out? Well, living at The Hawthorns gives you the freedom and flexibility to get where you want to be, in the way you want to get there.
For starters, there’s a Metro station in Hebburn with a regular service heading to and from South Shields into Newcastle city centre and beyond. There is also a choice of bus stops around the development offering different services around the area. Alternatively, you can jump in the car with the nearby A194(M) taking you straight to the A1(M). And if you really want to go further afield, grab your passport and jet off from Newcastle Airport – it’s only half an hour away by car.
