This huge reserve of meadows and waterways is famous for its stunning wildlife, including many wading birds, such as lapwings, redshanks, avocets and oystercatchers. Birds of prey fill the skies here and if you’re lucky, you could also spot a water vole or grass snake. The Reserve is packed with history too. Discover the house where King James II was imprisoned or walk the marches that inspired Dickens’ Great Expectations.
