Local Area

This is a fantastic semi-rural location, with the town of Coxhoe just a few minutes away. Despite being a small and friendly place, there’s everything you need here. A variety of independent stores, plus supermarkets such as Coop make it easy to keep the kitchen well stocked up. Plus, with great local pubs, cafes, a medical centre, village hall and community leisure facilities in the grounds of Coxhoe Park, there’s something for everyone. There’s also an Asda Superstore ten minutes away in Spennymoor and a Tesco Extra is less than ten minutes away near Durham.

If you enjoy the great outdoors, you’ll love living here. Whichever way you turn, the north-east’s rolling countryside is waiting for you. And with mile after mile of paths, cycle ways and bridleways, it’s easy to get out into the sticks and enjoy the fresh air.
Whether you fancy watching the wildlife or just taking a relaxing walk, Cassop Vale, Wingate Quarry and Bishop Middleton nature reserves are all close by. Hardwick Hall Country Park, a Visit England accredited attraction is also a great place to visit with fun events for all the family, all year around.

Just five miles away is the picturesque and historic city of Durham. An amazing place to visit, the cathedral and 11th-century castle are a celebrated UNESCO World Heritage site. And there’s more to this great city than history. The centre has a wide choice of shops, bars and restaurants and whether you’re sight-seeing, shopping to socialising, it makes a brilliant day out.

With the combination of modern amenities and green open spaces, Hampton Green is the ideal location for families. So, it’s good to know there’s a great choice of schools nearby. Coxhoe Primary School is just a few minutes’ walk away. Alternatively, Bowburn Infant and Nursery, and Bowburn Junior school are easy to get to. For older children, Whitworth Park Scholl and Sixth Form is a ten-minute drive away. Ferryhill Business and Enterprise College is just over ten minutes away by car.

Out and about

With such easy access to the A1, getting out and about from Hampton Green is easy. Newcastle is only a thirty-minute drive away. Whether you go for the fantastic shopping, vibrant nightlife, or world-class culture and heritage, its a city you can never get bored of.

Hampton Green is only 20 minutes from the stunning Durham Heritage Coast. The well-signposted network of coastal paths help you explore this beautiful area of golden sandy beaches, rugged headlands and natural habitats.
