Peter Wilkinson, Senior Sales Executive at Cable Wharf, Gravesend
How long have you been in the industry for?
“I’ve been in the property industry for over 20 years, 10 of which have been in the new build sector.”
What’s the best part of the job?
“My favourite thing about my role is being able to meet lots of new people and guide them through one of the biggest financial decisions they will probably make in their lives. Whilst at times it may get a little stressful for the homebuyer, it’s great to be there for them every step of the way and have the ability to help take the burden away.”
What’s your favourite room of the house and why?
“I’m a bit of a foodie so I’d have to say the kitchen. It’s where I can really let my culinarily skills flourish and it’s one of the only places my family all gather together for some quality time.”

How do you like spending your free time?
“When I’m not in the office, I spend most of my time with my young family - whether that’s out for a walk or inside, getting creative – I always enjoy arriving home to see what the evening will bring. When I have any spare time, I occasionally enjoy a round of golf. I’m no pro, but it does bring out my competitive side.”
What do you think is the best thing about Cable Wharf?
“Cable Wharf will develop into a spectacular riverside development and once complete, the promenade will look stunning. For those living at the development, it will be the perfect place to sit and watch the world go by or to take a stroll without venturing too far from home.”

What are the benefits of buying a new build?
“The peace of mind homeowners get when buying a new build is priceless. Most new builds are eco-friendly and built with the latest technology to keep heat in and ensure utility bills are kept to a minimum. Not only that, everything comes brand new and requires little-to-no maintenance.
Another bonus of buying a new build is that you are starting a fresh in a new community. Everyone at the development will also be new to the area and it’s a great way to get to know your neighbours.”
How affordable is buying your own home?
“Very – with low interest rates currently on offer, it works out much more affordable than renting and you will actually have a place you can call your own. I would advise people to save for a deposit wherever they can and try and get onto the property ladder as soon as they’re feasibly able.”
What’s the one thing you’d advise potential buyers?
“Buying while the development is still at an early stage means you have more time to plan your home along with your options. It’s important to try and see the vision of what will be created over the coming years.”
Cable Wharf is a development of houses and apartments like no other. Set within the unique backdrop of ancient chalk cliffs and the glistening River Thames, yet only 31 minutes from London, every day is an opportunity for the visionaries and go-getters who will form the new riverside communities of Northfleet.
