Valentine’s Day Inspired Interiors – Creating a Romantic Look and Feel Inside the Home

For those who like to treat their loved ones to a romantic getaway or a lavish meal, your Valentine’s Day might look a little different this year. With the four walls of your dining or living room more than likely housing your date night on Sunday, make sure you don’t compromise on making it as special as it should be.

A home can be the perfect setting for a romantic date night and below, we’ve listed a few things to consider when creating a romantic look and feel inside the home to really amp up that loving feeling.

Light it up

Candles, tea lights, oil burners and wax melts are some of the quickest ways to set the mood, as well as adding a little spark to the surroundings. More than just looking great, the scents can also add to the atmosphere by bringing a comforting aroma to the whole house. We’ve found a few dreamy suggestions from The White Company, thisworks and Marks & Spencer. Don’t forget there’s also the option of fairy lights, as well as LED tealights like these from JYSK.

Don’t forget to also dim the lights to really enhance the romantic mood – after all nothing beats a night under candlelight.

Set the scene

Depending on how much of a fuss you’re looking to make this Valentine’s, you could really set the scene with a few more accessories dotted around the home. It’s easy enough to incorporate some additional romantic references around the house, with things like cushions and ornaments, or maybe even a letter board to leave your partner a message with love.

Big up your blooms

Flowers always bring a special feel to any setting, and even more so if they’ve been given to you by your valentine! But you want to make sure you’re showcasing them in the best way, meaning you’ll need to be prepared with a themed vase. Here are a few to choose from, from Not on the High Street, Argos and Keep it Personal. You could even add a little personal touch or DIY by adding a ribbon or a themed pick to complete the look.

Dress the table

You’ll most likely be cooking or at least eating a meal together this Valentine’s Day, so why not treat yourselves to some new tableware to mark the occasion? Some sweet side plates for your starters or a heart-shaped slate serving platter for a tapas-style evening or some cheeky cheese and biscuits could be just what you need to complete your set up – and don’t forget a sprinkle of rose petals or a touch of confetti for that extra celebratory touch!

You’ll also be needing a set of prosecco or champagne flutes to toast your relationship. It’s quite easy to get some personalised in time for the big day from places like Etsy and Not on the High Street, but otherwise this pair with engraving will do the trick.

Get super snug

After dinner you might just want to move over to the sofa or cuddle chair, or maybe even head up to bed to watch an old romantic classic on the TV, so you’ll be needed plenty of throws and cushions for comfort, plus there’s nothing more romantic than snuggling with your partner under the same blanket! Obviously they’ll need to match your décor, but here are a few suggestions from John Lewis & Partners, Etsy and Wayfair.
