Local Area

The centre of Darlington is less than a ten minute drive away, you can even walk it from Fairway in just over 30 minutes. The largely pedestrainised and compact town centre, with its famous Market Hall Clock Tower landmark, is great place to shop. Everything you need is here, from your favourite high street names to fabulous independent stores. And when you’re all shopped out, there are lots of places to relax and grab a bite to eat. 

When it comes to grocery shopping, you’re spoilt for choice too. Morrisons, ASDA, Aldi, Iceland and Sainsbury’s are all nearby. Plus, there are a number of handy convenience stores to make sure you never run out of anything. 

Fairway not only provide a great place to live, it’s cleverly designed to help you live a healthier lifestyle too. This pioneering development has been created to follow NHS England’s Healthy New Town principles. It provides lots of spaces to enjoy the outdoors and a network of safe cycle and walking paths to connect you with the surrounding. Like the River Skerne. And if the weather isn’t on your side, the Dolphin Centre is just 1.5 miles away. With swimming pools, an 8-court sports hall, gym, squash courts, soft play and bistro, there’s lots to do here. 

With a great choice of schools nearby, Fairway is the ideal location for growing families. Red Hall Primary is a short walk away. Heathfield Primary School is also nearby. For older children, the Haughton Academy and Saint Aiden’s C of E Academy are close to the development.

Out and about

Fairway is close to the A66. Which makes getting out and about quick and easy. Middlesbrough is just a 20 minute drive away. And if you fancy a little city living, Durham’s historic centre is a 30 minute drive and Newcastle’s modern and vibrant centre is 50 minutes away. All are easy to get to by train too. 

Durham’s world famous heritage coastline and the North Yorkshire and Cleveland Heritage coast are nearby and always worth a visit. There are lots of great seaside towns for you to choose from and all make for perfect day out. 

For the more adventurous, the North Pennines AONB, Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North York Moors are waiting to be explored.
