The Local Area
A mile and a half out of Bishop Auckland, in a quiet area known as Auckland Park, you’ll find Moorland View. On the edge the northeast’s famous rolling countryside, it enjoys great access to the green open spaces, yet it’s far from remote. In fact, everything you need is close to home. Morrisons and Asda supermarkets are only a mile away and in Bishop Auckland itself there’s a great mix of independent shops and national chains.
If you love spending time outdoors, this place is for you. Northern Park is just minutes from your door. A great local beauty spot, it runs alongside the River Gaunless and is criss-crossed by a series of pathways. Auckland Way, a popular walk that follows a disused railway line also starts a few minutes walk from the development. The 4.3 mile path passes through countryside that was once part of the Bishop’s Park.
A perfect location for growing families, it’s good to know that there’s a great choice of schools nearby St. Andrew’s Primary School and Prince Bishops Community Primary School in Coundon Grange are both less than a mile away. Cockton Hill Junior and Infant School is 1.5 miles from home. For older ones King James Academy is just over a mile away.
Out and About
A great location for exploring all the treasures of County Durham, you’ll never be short of places to go. The historic city of Durham is just 10 miles away. Its stunning Norman cathedral and 11th century castle are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites. There’s a great choice of shops, bars and restaurants here too.
There are plenty of picturesque villages to explore in the area and Moorland View is just 22 miles from Durham Heritage coast.
Moorland View is a 10 minute drive from the A1. The local train station is conveniently located a couple of miles away. Here Northern Rail services can take you into the centre of Newcastle in just over an hour.
