Daisy Airstone

Technical Apprentice

“I always knew full time University courses were never the right choice for me as I wanted to finish my A Levels and jump into a fast-paced working environment where I could learn whilst working in a team of professionals. The application process for my apprenticeship with Keepmoat homes for quite simple and straightforward – during the interview we discussed where I would fit into the business and what University course would suit my aspirations and interests best. It wasn’t long after that I started working for Keepmoat and studying one day a week at Sheffield Hallam University studying Construction Project Management, the technical team I work within were quick when showing me the ropes as I settled in. This allowed me to put my best foot forward as my studies and work both run alongside each other and I am able to complete a degree whilst gaining the experience that goes along side it, moving. The transition from full time education to a working environment didn’t take long to get used to and I’m really enjoying working within such a knowledgeable group of people. Keepmoat and the Technical team in Yorkshire Two region fully support me and my studies and are there to help when I have any questions, need support or want to further my training and attend any courses or conferences. Gaining so much experience through work enhances what I study at university but also means I’m gaining more practical and soft skills whilst I manage a full-time job and a degree. My friends and family are extremely proud of what I am doing with Keepmoat and now look into doing Apprenticeships themselves. I am constantly learning and am really looking forward to what my role within Yorkshire Two develops into in the future."
