Central Park is in an excellent location near to Darlington town centre, high street shops, supermarkets and Darlington Train Station on the East Coast Main Line.
Darlington town centre builds on its heritage as a market town with fresh local produce on sale in the Victorian covered market, a vibrant outdoor market on Saturdays and Mondays, and occasional speciality markets also taking place. For those who like retail therapy, Darlington has over 500 shops and independent stores. The Cornmill indoor shopping centre includes over 40 stores with many high street names.
There are plenty of other attractions nearby including Darlington Hippodrome, The Dolphin Centre and Feethams Leisure Park. Darlington Hippodrome is a popular Theatre from 1907, hosting plays, opera, comedy, music, dance and pantomime, local and touring. The Dolphin Centre is a fitness centre with swimming pools, an 8-court sports hall, gym, squash courts, soft play and bistro. Feethams is Darlington's hub of leisure activity, made up of a nine screen Vue cinema, an 80-bedroom Premier Inn hotel and popular restaurants such as Nando’s and Bella Italia.
If you enjoy the outdoors then take a trip to Westpark Nature Reserve, the first new park to be created in Darlington for 100 years, with over 30 acres of beautiful woodland, wildflower meadows and wetlands. There’s a playpark and family-friendly cycle routes here too. Darlington’s famous Grade II registered South Park is also a great place to enjoy the fresh air. There’s something for everyone here and a full programme of events throughout the year, including outdoor concerts.
There are lots of other opportunities for days out locally with Darlington Railway Museum, Croft racing circuit and Raby Castle all nearby.
If you are willing to travel a little further then the nearby city of Durham combines history with culture and boasts a world famous Norman Cathedral and 11th Century Castle, a wealth of cafes, gourmet food shops and craft markets, world class theatres and comedy venues, cinemas, and restaurants. The historic city of York is only a half hour train ride away and the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors are also within easy reach. The beautiful North Yorkshire market town of Richmond is only 12 miles south of Darlington.
