Job description
Main purpose of the role:
- To manage delivery of major projects and mentor/manage other project delivery team members within the function.
Key Accountabilities:
- Direct responsibility for project delivery.
- Facilitation and management of major project steering boards with senior stakeholders from across the company.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting to the Head of Project Delivery and, in line with the governance requirements of the company.
- Ensure that appropriate escalation and risk reporting is in place across the relevant line report.
- Budget management responsibility of project budgets as set by the Head of Projects and/or the IT Director.
- Direct management of team members within the delivery team to ensure project delivery expectations are met and, where required to act as a Project Sponsor/SRO.
- Engagement with senior stakeholders across the various divisions within the organisation to ensure delivery within budget, to time and to agreed quality expectations.
- Management of supplier relationships within the confines of the project delivery mechanisms.
People Management Responsibilities:
- Management and mentoring, where needed of team members.
- To lead and build a motivated and engaged team.
- To recruit the right talent into the business.
- To develop your team members by enabling and motivating them to be the best that they can, building a strong talent pipeline to support the growth of the Business, completing Talent Mapping and Succession Planning bi-annually ahead of the mid-year and year-end Performance Development Reviews and discussing the outputs in these meetings.
- To undertake bi-annual Performance Development Reviews with your team members and effectively manage any concerns that arise relating to these and to support team members Personal Development Plans.
- To address confidently and competently performance, behavioural and absence issues in a supportive manner and taking the necessary actions to improve these while ensuring team members understand their personal responsibilities in these areas.
Skills, knowledge & experience
Essential:
- A minimum 5 years’ experience running large system and business change projects
- Experience of managing multiple projects in parallel – minimum of 3
- Evidence of managing stakeholders in multi-site locations with excellent communication skills
- Good understanding of change management and, the impacts of change on multi-site locations
- Ability to plan from L0 to L2 at milestone delivery level whilst running/facilitating delivery workshops/reviews
- Comfortable line managing/mentoring Project Managers/Change Analysts
- Excellent communication and written skills
Desirable:
- CAFM and/or BIM background or alternatively, experience of the housebuilding sector
Education & qualifications
Essential:
- IPM, PMI or APM qualified
