Apprentice Quantity Surveyor
“I was initially interested in the apprenticeship route for many different reasons. The idea of studying alongside working appealed to me because I knew I would develop a greater understanding while working. Quantity Surveying was something I had an interest in learning and I knew I would enjoy working as a trainee more than studying full time.
Keepmoat have supported me through the QS role in many ways. I spent time with different QS’s understanding what they do on a day to day basis, visiting sites and even working with different roles throughout the business. They’ve been very interested and supportive of my studies in university as well as in work.
Working as an apprentice in Keepmoat has been beneficial because everyone I worked with from managers to colleagues have always helped me with my work and showed me what to do. I was never ‘thrown in the deep end.’
There are many opportunities that have presented themselves since starting as an apprentice, I have been able to develop many different skills, such as communication skills were I had to speak with other departments and/or different companies. Even opportunities within the business are available, where I could progress through the ranks as a Quantity Surveyor and potentially even further.
If I had to give advice to anyone thinking of completing an apprenticeship I’d say do it. I haven’t regretted my decision so far and I think the benefits completely outweigh any other alternative routes.”
