About Paisley

Whether you're looking for culture in your new hometown, a bit of history, or an emerging family friendly environment, Paisley is the ideal location. Paisley is the largest town in the historic country of Renfrewshire in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. The town is situated on the northern edge of the Gleniffer Braes, straddling the banks of the White Cart Water, a tributary of the River Clyde. In the 19th Century, the town established itself in the weaving industry and gave its name to the Paisley Shawl and the Paisley Pattern.

Out and About

Abbotsway is ideally situation within the town, which is full of vibrancy and rich with culture. Across from the development, just a short walk is White Cart Water, as well as beautiful parks such as Fountain Gardens and Ferguslie Park Gardens, which are just a small selection of what is situated throughout the town, so you're spoilt for choice with lots of walks and places to explore. For the modern leisure enthusiasts, there's a leisure centre, nearby cinemas like the Odeon in Braehead and the Showcase Cinema in Phoenix Retail Park and there's a local farmers market, so you can ensure your family can benefit from premium produce. The town has a variety of shopping opportunities, including the Piazza, Paisley shopping centres, and a wide selection of restaurants, cafes and bars. With close links to Glasgow city centre, and a local train station, there's no shortage of access to shops and restaurants and all that Glasgow has to offer. Or if you're looking for a family excursion, Helensburgh Beach is a beautiful picturesque spot, a mere 14 miles away with its two piers, promenade and local town.

When moving home, finding a town with the option of choice of education is highly beneficial, this is where Paisley really shines, as there's a multitude of choice. A small selection of their nurseries include: Rainbow Community Nursery and Moss Vale Nursery, each only a 6 minute walk away from Abbotsway, there's also Little Learners Private Nursery. For the older children, there's Williamsburg Primary School, West Primary Shcool and Castlehead High School, all under 2 miles away.
