Keepmoat's continuing success depends on our employees and their development.
The group actively encourages employee training - we plan and provide a range of training programmes to aid the career development of all our employees.
Our aim is to ensure that each employee receives appropriate training to enable them to carry out their current or future role. Opportunities for relevant development are offered equally to each employee, subject to their ability and the Group's business needs.
An extensive induction programme helps and supports every new employee to adjust to their new working environment as quickly and smoothly as possible.
The Keepmoat Group currently employs over 350 trainees, demonstrating our commitment to the development of young people and re-training.
We are extremely proud of our continuing commitment to craft apprenticeships, which are overseen by the CITB. We support our apprentices to gain their NVQ 3 qualifications in either single or multi-trade disciplines and continue either as site operatives or develop into supervisors and managers.
These are the joiners, bricklayers, plasterers, stores and distribution people, ground-workers and general labourers who build and refurbish people's homes.
They are the front-line members of the Keepmoat Group, a strong team which builds strong relationships with our customers and the wider community. Every day they demonstrate our practical commitment to the construction industry's Respect for People initiative.
Employees are encouraged and supported to undertake relevant education and training to help improve their performance and increase their opportunities for development and career advancement. Aside from formal courses, we also advocate alternative training methods, including coaching, mentoring, self-study guides, the use of a wide range of materials such as books, videos, DVDs and CDs and shadowing other employees.
We are eager to give each trainee the optimum experience - they can often be moved to other contractors to gain a comprehensive insight into all aspects of their work. We also have agreements with subcontractors to provide placements for trainees and apprentices, offering a wider scope of opportunity for trainees.
On all schemes, we aim to link with local initiatives for employment, including intermediate labour market initiatives, such as Homebuilder and Construction Job Match, resettlement programmes from the armed forces and the local Construction Skills broker.
We also contribute to the cost of relevant training, study, exams, professional or chartered membership fees.
Keepmoat operates an annual system of employee appraisals and performance reviews, during which future training needs are normally identified. Our in-house assessment facility works closely with providers to ensure that our trainees have a high level of support throughout their training. Additional training requirements can also be considered. Training plans are jointly agreed between individual employees and the company, which liaises with providers to source relevant courses, plan provision and offer advice and direction.
The Keepmoat Group has also established its own Academy - a unique training resource for all our companies. Employees who take part in Academy programmes benefit from leading edge training, networking and the sharing of best practice with colleagues from across The Keepmoat Group. The Keepmoat Academy is hugely successful in building the company's future managers and leaders.
