Shopping and leisure

The Elk Mill Centre Retail Park, is only three miles away and nearby Oldham town centre has plenty of popular high street stores. Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre contains an array of fashion stores, banks, and cafes.

Thirty minutes away is the Trafford Centre, one of the country’s most visited shopping destinations, with an Odeon cinema, a large food court and with around 280 popular high street and department stores.

And Boundary Park, the home of Oldham Athletic FC, is also on the doorstep.


Out and about

Locally, there are a large number of cafes, restaurants and pubs in the centre of town and the surrounding area.

For families with younger children, there are a number of local parks and the three countryside centres, Brownhill, Daisy Nook and Tandle Hill, offer activities such as walking, cycling, fishing and boating. Daisy Nook Country Park offers 100 acres of woodland, meadows, lake and rivers with a variety of wildlife and plant life, so there is plenty to do outdoors.

Oldham boasts some excellent museums, including the Saddleworth Museum situated in the 19th century Victoria Mill next to the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

The Oldham Coliseum Theatre (hyperlink) is popular with those living in the town, with its range of shows and productions.


Schools and education

There are a number of Primary Schools  in the area, with the closest being Mayfield Primary School, just 0.3 miles away. Also accessible on foot are Watersheddings Primay School just 0.7 miles away and Little Moor Primary School.

The Blue Coat School provides secondary education, and Oldham Sixth Form College is just 0.8 miles away, close to the town centre.

For further education facilities, Oldham College is less than two miles away from city centre area and the transport links into Manchester open up The University of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University and Salford University to prospective students.



Churchill Gardens benefits from excellent transport links and the A62 to Manchester is easily accessible.

The tram link to Manchester from Oldham Mumps station is just a five-minute drive or a 15 minute walk away from your doorstep straight into Manchester City Centre.

Alternatively the number 83 bus runs a regular service to and from Manchester , taking around 45 minutes.

Manchester International Airport can be reached in less than half an hour by car, or a short train journey via Manchester Piccadilly rail station.
